EPISODE18 - Talking 80s Music with Martin Hennessy

This week was difficult. When Martin decided to do the show on Saturdays (we held an online vote for time of day,) we didn't even consider that the NFL draft would be competing for our attention. But, we made it through and I'm sure there won't be another one for 51 episodes. Maybe we should have played the Chicago Bears "Super Bowl Shuffle" but we can't do that once a year.

Anyhow, this week we featured some very new music. We featured "Fuzzy Freaky" by David Byrne. As you should know, Byrne was the frontman for the Talking Heads. We also played "New Man" by Sonic Hub featuring Martin Fry. Fry, of course, is the vocalist from ABC. A very dance oriented episode, I guess. We also mentioned upcoming CD giveaways (Elvis Costello and Erasure.) If you are interested in one of those, keep your eyes on the 80's Nuts newsletter also. It may be a call-in winner on our show needing a password from the newsletter. Haven't decided yet.

EPISODE17 - Talking 80s Music with Martin Hennessy

This week we featured music from Dramarama's latest album, Everybody Dies. The title track and "Good Night, America" are nearly polar opposites in content and delivery but showcase strong songwriting and the cohesiveness of a band that has been together for years (although, this is their first album together since 1993's Hi-Fi Sci-Fi.) We're still trying to figure out why it isn't in our collections but that will be remedied on Tuesday. It can be noted that there was something on their MySpace page hinting to a new album this year. We'll have to wait for confirmation.

EPISODE16 - Talking 80s Music with Martin Hennessy

Well, this week we made some changes. We were using something called SJPhone to connect to TalkShoe.com and found that it wouldn't let us use a program (vEmotion) that allows us to play music and audio bits live during the show. We both always felt bad for the people that heard the show live and this gives them a closer feel to the final product. Well, we struggled slightly. Going to have to test the audio levels here and there next week. We might have lowered Martin's voice and raised the music. That's not horrible except when he talks over the music... there's an issue. Should sound better next week but not as bad as we first thought it went.

This week we also featured the songs "Crystal Clear" and "This Love's Forever" by Howard Hewett from his latest album, It's Time.

EPISODE15 - Talking 80s Music with Martin Hennessy

Small technical issues this week have us considering changing from SJPhone to Skype (which we'll have to pay a yearly service fee for.) This will allow us to play music during the show and not just in post audio (which means a later update.) Otherwise, everything went well. This week we featured the songs "Can't Hold Us Back" and "Pump The Music, Pump The Sound" from Public Enemy's latest studio effort, Rebirth Of A Nation, featuring Paris.
