EPISODE35 - Talking 80s Music with Martin Hennessy

Ok, as you may well know, Martin's a big fan of music history. This week, he decided to talk about the interrelated JAMs/Timelords/KLF. Yes, a lot of their history had to deal with copyright issues which does amaze me that 20 years later, we are still fighting over music downloads and seeing the de-evolution of the recording industry. I digress. The band had their greatest hit (U.K. #1 single) mixing samples from the Doctor Who television series with a reworked version of Gary Glitter's "Rock & Roll Part II" as the Timelords on "Doctorin' The Tardis" which we feature and an often forgotten song by Edelweiss' "Bring Me Edelweiss." Where does that fit in? Well, they just happen to be an 80's act that also scored a #1 hit following the band's directions in their book The Manual. Feel free to put that under Martin's tree for Christmas.

EPISODE34 - Talking 80s Music with Martin Hennessy

Although we, in the U.S., remember the Blow Monkey's for the hit single, "Digging Your Scene," they scored several hits in the U.K. (Actually, there is reunion talk) This week we focused on some songs ("The Coming Of Grace" and "I've Learned To Live With Love") from the solo career of frontman Dr Robert. It can be shocking to find out that someone had a solo career and didn't tell you. That's why we're here. Oh...and the regular stuff you tune in for.

TMBG's "Take Out The Trash" comes from their new album, The Else, and Clegg and Jaluka's "Fever" comes from their recently reissued 1984 compilation, International Tracks.

After the podcast, we created our new email account specifically for the show. You can now contact us at talking80smusic@yahoo.com

EPISODE32 - Talking 80s Music with Martin Hennessy

This week we featured the music of Michael Sembello. Remember him? He had that #1 hit "Maniac" from the Flashdance soundtrack. Anyhow, we feature the follow-up hit single, "Automatic Man," and the 1997 album track, "Too Much Bizarre" from his recently reissued albums.
