EPISODE46 - Talking 80s Music with Martin Hennessy

Ok, this week there is a little reminiscing. You see the J. Geils Band played a big role in my musical development and appreciation as a youth... especially the Freeze Frame album. I can actually remember that "Centerfold" was my first response to the question, "What's your favorite song?" Took awhile to knock that off the list but maybe it was because it was mentally tied to a crush on a cute young brunette named Brooke Almond. (I was in 5th grade, geez.) Took me a long time to figure out what the song meant by "pages in between" and "centerfold." Anyhow, we featured a mix of some of their hits as we talk about their history. We also wound up playing a few songs you may not remember. After Peter Wolf left the band for a solo career, the group carried on with songwriter/keyboardist Seth Justman taking over for "Fright Night" (the title track to the horror film) and "Concealed Weapons." The songs had a lot of the same chemistry but something didn't connect with the fans. The best we can hope for is a bigger reunion tour (as they've done some east coast dates several years back.)
