EPISODE47 - Talking 80s Music with Martin Hennessy

Looking back over the year, I was thinking, "We really haven't done much metal." No, I don't think heavy metal was the epitome of the 80s but it deserved more time here. So, what better way than mixing the old with the new. You see, Stryper reunited a few years ago with a successful tour and critically praised album. Before work began on the next album, frontman Michael Sweet's wife was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer. This shook up plans immensely. Michael tended to his wife and encouraged her in many ways including playing a few inspirational songs. Anyhow, he wound up recording an album of love songs for her entitled Touched. Most of the songs are covers (even two Stryper ballads) of very big hits. We do our revisiting of Stryper's music before doing a similar mix of a few songs from the album. Lastly, we play Sweet's "Together As One" from the album. (You can hear most of those album samples at which are also able to be downloaded for free.)
