EPISODE93 - Talking 80s Music with Martin Hennessy

This week we focused on Tina Turner and her new collection, Tina! We featured the songs: "It Would Be A Crime," "I'm Ready," "Let's Stay Together (Live In Amsterdam)" and "Addicted To Love (Live At Camden Palace)" from the collection and talked about her career. We started the show by giving a copy of the disc to one of our newsletter subscribers. The problem with covering an icon or diva is that one would really need from one of her multiple biographies to cover everything and we don't have that long of a show. This also meant that some things were omitted making this a good entry point for music fans that know very little about Tina.

We were quite surprised by the strong showing in our chat area from the U.K. and Canada. Why the surprise? I guess there are moments when you suddenly get slapped by reality and recognize that an artist could be more popular abroad than at home. Her singles on the charts tend to reflect this. While U.S. radio programmers went another direction, Tina Turner's singles were still charting well abroad. Anyhow, we did have a lot of fun in the chat room with a bunch of new faces.
